I am not so sure about this ...

So here is the deal ... Not so sure I can/want to do Paleo for the next six weeks. I know that I am going to continue making healthier food choices but since I don't eat veggies or seafood I am pretty limited in my selection of meals. I am going to research into the Zone diet and see if that can better fit my food choices. I have slipped a bit this weekend but intend to continue posting my food as of today. I know that it won't be 100% Paleo but it will be the best I can do without being miserable. I will continue to try veggies but if I haven't liked them for the first 37 years I am not sure how I will like them for the next 37!

Have a great weekend and I'll see you at CF this week!

  1. It's not about being 100% paleo girl. It's about changing your choices, being conscious of what you are eating, and understanding how food makes you feel. Nobody is 100% perfect and when we try to be, we usually set ourselves up for failure. Go as Paleo as you are comfortable with. Or switch to zone. That's where I started and still go back to when I get frustrated with Paleo. Think about how good you are doing, not about how much further you have to go. It'll all fall into place. No worries Suzy you are doing great!

  2. Suzi,

If I had not phased into 100% paleo I would have freaked! My advice is to start with the zone and go from there, if you want to. I personally highly recommend the book, "The Primal Blueprint" by Mark Sisson. Also check out his blog: Mark's Daily Apple.

  4. you're welcome! as a follow up, something i just sent to a friend via facebook:

The author of "the primal blueprint," mark sisson, also maintains the popular blog: mark's daily apple. he takes a holistic and realistic, common sense approach to eating paleo. i think food should be both healthy and enjoyable, and sometimes decadent. there are good reasons why certain foods are less than ideal, but if you like them, and can find the best version possible, then by all means, eat and enjoy them! just keep in mind what a major role food plays in our wellness. so many major ailments result from eating shite.

  5. Hey Suzi: I think "Time for a Change 15" was probably the best advice - my trying to go 100% Paleo was probably unrealistic and I did love the Zone, so a combo and an awareness of the quality of food we are putting in our bodies is a big improvement; I've decided a more gradual change is better for me too, maybe something like 85/15... I'm on for 6pm tonight E

  8. Paleo = Content of your diet (preferred), Zone = Structure of your diet (balance pro/carbs/fat) ... try reducing the ratios from baseline zone of 30% pro/40% carbs/30% fat to something like 30% pro/20% carbs/50% fat ... I can show you how to do this! ~ J

  9. Paleo is pretty radical--and I don't think anyone can just flip a switch and get there overnight. We're not wired that way. Plus it's like sandwiches--you don't like every sandwich. You have to find the Paleo food you like--which is a lot of trial and error. So you're bound to have those days where things fall down. My first attempt at Paleo last fall ended in frustration and weight gain. Things have gone much better this time around. MK (time for change) is right--it's about long term. And as J says, every meal you can choose to change things around. :) Good luck girl!!!
